well first of all, I’m really tall. Freakishly tall. It surprises everyone – even me… ugh, Really? Who wants to know this stuff?I mean – come on. It’s MY blog. How much “more about” me can I possibly tell? My friends know me. If you don't know how tall I am, there just might be a reason. :P

eeeeesh!

I wrote my first grant proposal last week.

It was painful.

Up for 3 days...............writing, writing, and re-writing.

.......I'll let you know. :)

Country Death Song

Happy February! This was fun, in a strange sort of way! A lil' somethin' to kick off the month. Wanna play too? :)

RULES

1. Put your music player on shuffle. 2. For each question, press the next button (ONLY ONCE!!!) to get your answer. 3. YOU MUST WRITE THAT SONG NAME DOWN NO MATTER HOW SILLY IT SOUNDS - even if it is incredibly embarrassing.

I'm not taggin' anyone. Play along if ya wanna! ;)

1) IF SOMEONE SAYS "IS THIS OKAY" YOU SAY... ...I don't know. HA! It's a beautiful instrumental, but it's on my Shuffle, so I can't even look up the name. Which is a damn same — because it's beautiful! ;)

2) WHAT WOULD BEST DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY? Gone (Switchfoot)

3) WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A GUY/GIRL? It Can't Rain Everyday (POD)

4) HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY? Falling Inside the Black (Skillet)

5) WHAT IS YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE? Nothing Left to Show (Hawk Nelson)

6) WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO? Masterpiece Conspiracy (POD)

7) WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS THINK OF YOU? Deteriorate (Demon Hunter)

10) WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR BEST FRIEND? Perfect (Flyleaf)

11) WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PERSON YOU LIKE? Always (Seventh Day Slumber)

12) WHAT IS YOUR LIFE STORY? Phenomenon (Thousand Foot Krutch)

13) WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP? Exit the Fall aka Only in Your Dreams (Falling Up)

14) WHAT DO YOU THINK WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU LIKE? How You Remind Me (Nickleback)

15) WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF YOU? Ammunition (Switchfoot)

16) WHAT WILL YOU DANCE TO AT YOUR WEDDING? You (Kutless)

17) WHAT WILL THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL? Money Money Money (Mamma Mia Soundtrack)

18) WHAT IS YOUR HOBBY/INTEREST? Deep (Nickleback)

19) WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR FRIENDS? Bring Em Out! aka Everything You Ever Wanted (Hawk Nelson)

22) WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU REGRET? Guiding Me Home (Kutless)

23) WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH? Spiraling (Seventh Day Slumber)

24) WHAT MAKES YOU CRY? 'we will be the last ones standing as your empire falls away. 100,000 angels standing...

25) WILL YOU EVER GET MARRIED? Hello and Welcome to Teach Yourself Icelandic... (hahaha!)

26) WHAT SCARES YOU THE MOST? Home (12 Stones)

27) DOES ANYONE LIKE YOU? Do You Like American Music (Violent Femmes)

28) IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE? Lifeless (12 Stones)

29) WHAT HURTS RIGHT NOW? Burning Bridges (Seventh Day Slumber)

30) WHAT WILL YOU POST THIS AS? Country Death Song (Violent Femmes)

Guess What?

It's snooooooowing! ;)

The Tides Have Turned

When I arrived home last night from the opening reception of Fruit Plate...

...I opened the doors to a clean house!!! (they wanted to play Guitar Hero, don'cha know!) — and a teenaga up to his elbows in dryer parts! :O

That is correct: Teenaga fixed the dryer. What a guy! Of course, he's also explained that this means I can no longer give him a hard time for the remote, and the pizza slice, in the VCR. It has been almost 13 years, afterall! ;)

...it is also correct that we've played Guitar Hero. And bowling. And golf. And a lil' DDR to boot! It really is WAAAAAY too much fun!! hahahahahaha

An Email

I received an email note from the assistant to the Chair of our college today. She forwarded an email notice, with a note that said 'ooooh! You're going to be famous!' hahahaha Well, we might not be famous — and the end result may not have been 100% — it was some pretty amazing teamwork! And, I still am amazed at the amount of water it takes in the production of one pair of my fav blue jeans!!

The article is here in Today @Idaho.

And here are some of the finished pieces we submitted at the end of last term...

ooooooom

5 a.m. happy yoga goodness has commenced. I've missed it. It's been a L-O-N-G time, and I'm so much more pleasant to be around when I'm up early and movin' But, early to rise also means eeeearly to sleeeeeeeep. And after only a week, I'm super sleepy tonight. WAVING Good Night!!

BLAAAAH!

Still no likey the new Spaces set-up and mess. In case anyone was wondering.

ooooooh L@@K

It’s snooooooowing. Again. So no worries - I’ll still get plenty of use outta the snow pants, won’t I?

And, I think I've figured out the issue with my dryer. Now, am I talented enough to replace the part — put the silly thing back together — AND get it to work?! We shall see!

Pondering the Big Ones

Why is it that – in the movies, the good and honest girl always wins the heart of her hero, but in real life it’s the deceitful wicked girl that snare him?

And why are the snowpants always delivered 24 hours after the melt?

This is How it Went

Soooooo… Hammy never tires of the Camera or having his picture taken.

Hammy

I, on the other hand, am not so cute as Hammy. I can only "smile pretty" for a limited amount of time. Tongue out

Christmas_08

But, if you look closely you may see that part of Hammys excitement stems from the sugarplums dancing in his head...

Sugarplums Dancing

...and yet, we've managed a lovely lil' Holiday - complete with snowy goodness and twinkle lights on mini-tree. Smile

Twinkle Lights

Albiet, a bit of a Charlie Brown tree - but we think it's beautfiul.

 Charlie Brown Tree?

I was a little concerned that the boys would be disappointed. One gift each to open --instead of the usual pile Gift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bow of Gift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bowGift with a bow greeeeeeeed-y-ness. As materialistic as we all can be in this house, I wasn't sure how they would react. But they did my heart good -- as they always do. I said "it's a family Christmas this year. Just the three of us. Hanging out together. Playing together. And each gift is a family gift - for us to share..." Two were from me, and one was from the super-gramma, with whom I was in cahoots! Wink

Lil'J made this beautiful ornament for the tree...

Handmade JSP-3

And found his fav penguin ornament as well...

The Christmas Penguin

And Teenager even played along - although he continued to stand in resistance against the idea of a photoshoot…

The Teenager

Joey

Lil'J said "oooooh we L-I-K-E the biiiiiiig one"

I LIKE the Big One!

So, teenager went first. And we even caught a smile!

 REALLY??!

And yes, even though Mom is the Anti-video Game Mom "--she got a Wii! She got a Wii!! It's not a dream! It's NOT A DREAM!"

Thank You, Mamma!

And then

                *drum roll*

"Our Amma ROCKS!!!!!"

 *GASP* Our Amma ROCKS!

Yes. Amma hooked them up right.

                Them?

Okay – Amma hooked US up! *wink* Guitar Hero World Band Tour.

Introducing: 13

                                  Thirteen

Well, it's my number —so Teenager says "It’s the name of our band!" hahahaha

Gotta say - the Wii is soooooo cool! We've been playing and playing and laughing and laughing!!  AND - it has Wii weather channel! How is it possible that it was 9 degrees outside our sliding glass door ...and 33 degrees in Reykjavik?!?

Wii Would Like to Go

Lil’J

Yeah. We don't know either.

BUT - we did find these crazy-cool transparent noodles! Had to Camera - they are just soooooo strange.

Noodles?

But the guys love 'em! hahahaha

Yummy

So, I say:

Red heart Bring on 2009! Red heart

Lil’J and Me

Princess Mia…

A few years ago now, some of my friends saw a movie called the Princess Diaries. And began calling me Princess Mia. The nick caught on quickly – my boys bought me the movies (my birthday one year and Christmas the next!). But I always joked that it was all just because the character was so awkward clumsy. Today, one of my friends sent me this video. hahaha Well, you can't go wrong with Queen. And I think Anne Hathaway has an amazing voice – so all in all, I'm flattered! :* …I'll just not admit that the boys bought me this movie last year! ;)

Heart-felt

Red heart Gleðileg Jól and Merry Merry Christmas! Red heart

YAY!

"It's all just sooooooo exciting!!!"

The Cellist

MJHS Orchestra celebrated Finals week in style --they somehow manage to schedule the winter and spring concerts every semester during Finals-- and I took a little break from the frenzy of study to listen to my favorite cellist perform.

RANT!

You've no doubt heard the saying If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Well, this whole new Windows Live thing is a real pain in the GRRRRRRRRRRR!  Who has time to re-learn where the heck they've hidden everything and how to check updates. What happened to my happy lil' updates page that had everything in one spot?!? Hell, I can't even just one-click on my friends avatars and get to their spaces anymore without sending out a search party. Now, it's set up like I'm here perusing for someone date-able. I mean, don't get me wrong - I love my friends. But the fact that these are my friends could lead one to assume that I already know their profile information and therefore is NOT WHAT I WANT TO READ TODAY! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr growl double-grrrrr

Okay.

Done now.

Snooooooooooow!

Okay, granted—after last years amazing 9-months of Crazy White Winter one would think I’d be done with it. Alas – I am hooked. I’m happy as a snow, um, bunny.  Hot  hehe  …of course, after the weather reports – who knows how long that Happy-snow Goodness feeling will last:
Thursday, December 18, 2008 6:55pm:
The record breaking snow storm has finally ended for the Spokane area. Totals are coming in at 20-34" in many areas. This storm brought the most snow ever recorded in a 24 hour period for both Spokane (19.4") and Coeur d'Alene (25"). This snow will stay with us as temperatures are not expected to warm above freezing for the rest of the year.

Yeah. We’ll see. But for now – I’m enjoying it all with the Camera.

Sad to say, I can not stay,

but

finals are a week away :)

soooooo — I should be back

…some day! hahahaha

(sorry – Dr. Suess-ness was not in the original plan. But, I'm sure it has something to do with up-all-night, study, read, write, paint, write-some-more, coffee, coffee, coffee, etc, etc, etc...)

Adequate Levels?

And That’s a BIG 10 - 4

hahahahaha!  Hot  Just got an email from my professor regarding my petition. It was titled Good News. I was dancing before I opened it.  I'm still dancing. It starts out like this:

Congratulations. The faculty voted and think your proposal is very interesting and worthy of time abroad.  Please come see me about what to do next…

We’re going to Iceland.

Red heartThank you, God.Red heart

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Alive, Well – and Bootless :)

The most recent Semester of Insanity is in full swing and things are going terrific – of course! Wink The boot has finally come off and PT is going great. Amma came to visit, and found a teenager in a tree…

And came to get some pics of my art at the opening of the Palouse Women Artist's Shrine Show. I'm honored to have my first piece of art this traveling exhibition alongside these great women.

Homage to Käthe Kollwitz - Silenced?

Amma even got to see Lil' J's final soccer game of the season. And they won!!

Go Joey!

Lovin' This!

I just met with my professor last week, to submit my argument for petition. He said my argument is a great one – he's sold. And he will present my petition on Wednesday (along with my thesis proposal. Yes. That's right. I've already gotten a start on my thesis proposal. I know what I want to do – I'm so ahead of schedule! WOOT WOOT!), so we'll see what the faculty says. Petition for what? you ask. For spending the next year in Iceland, researching and curating an exhibit.

We're streaming in Icelandic talkradio.

And we're packing.

And passports for Mr. One and Mr. Two arrived last week.

 Weeeeeeeeeeeee!

Oh Yeah - And...

Broke or tore somethin´

 I didnt´ do it!

That´s about all the damage I can do for now! Hot

Lil´J turned 9.
Yeah, I Rock.

And decided that the Silver Surfer would go nicely with his new fotbolí Íslandskur outfit.
 Happy Happy!

He also decided Mom should have purple and silver - and pigtails. Because those are his favorite.

Go figure.

Gun o' Teenaga

Teenaga respectfully declined the hair treatment. But was more than happy to strike a pose.

We want CAKE!

I´m pretty sure they did have fun.

The Golden Boy

The Chamber of Commerce team dubed him Ellen´s Golden Boy.  Hot   I´d decided that I wanted to see how far I could get just using red, yellow and blue.  It was tiring - and hard on the fingers, but so worth it.  FUN FUN.  The boys came too and did their own lil´drawings.  Then they just hung out with me.  And,  I met some great people.  It was scary - drawing with all of those people watching. Surprised  But it was goooood for me too!

It was a 4ft x 6ft reproduction of the little black and white sketch I´d done last Spring.

Happy Drawing Goodness!  Open-mouthed

God-story o' the Day

Teenager just burst through the front door:

“Okay!  Sooooo, on my way to Tri-State” (those of you who have stuck it out over the last year with the Random Chaos stories might remember that Tri-State is a groovy lil' outdoorsy store here that we really have fun with…

and the store that Teenager modeled for in his debut last Fall...

his debut that he said was “not my thing, Mom”  ...but, I digress.

ANYEye-rollinghoooo—Teenager was walking up to Tri-State because the knife we’d purchased for his 4-week excursion had lost a screw.  We’d discussed it before hand, and although he really wanted to get a $50 multi-tool – he’d chosen the cheap knife, knowing he’d be out in the wild with it.  Good choice, as neither of us were at all concerned by the loose screw.

<insert your funny here.  i know – it's far too perfect of an opportunity to pass up.  you just gotta say it...>

I figured buying a replacement screw would be almost the cost of just replacing the knife, but he wanted to check.  No problem.  So off he went to check it out...

Which brings us back to, “Okay!  Sooooo, on my way to Tri-State I saw some guys from school.  They're doin’ a carwash down there to raise money for football.  And I don’t have a car, but I went ahead and donated a couple bucks”

I thought – that was nice. Where is he goin’ with this?  Remember, he burst through the door.  Grinning.  And now, as he tells me about the carwash, his grin is getting bigger.  He reaches into his pocket

“...check it out!  I went to Tri-State after, and they just gave me a new knife!  haha  - God is so funny.  He rocks!!”

Okay now, some might say that he should have been given a new knife regardless. Some have, in fact said such things in the past—which is why we make fun of Random in our house—cuz we know there’s no such thing...

‘REALLY?’  Some says,  ‘It was just a coincidence that he stopped at the carwash first and the fact that they replaced his knife is just what they were supposed to do.  The timing was just random. So?  Where’s your God-story?’

Well, I say — it’s Teenager’s God-story.  And that’s where it is.  In his dancing eyes.  In his grateful words and excited smile.  The Knife matters little.  Red heart

Can YOU see it?

Do You Hear What I Hear?

Note Teenager sings now. Note

It's quite a happy thing.  I'll explain all that a lil' later – but right now, I'm enjoying a lil' happy singing goodness – while we prepare for the much anticipated arrival of Lil' J!  YAY!  Hot
